Desert Coyote Productions is proud to announce the latest release from Patty Wiseman (An Unlikely Arrangement), continuing her Velvet Shoe Collection series of romantic suspense novels with her newest, An Unlikely Beginning.
The tenth book from DCP, this novel continues the story begun in Patty's previous work, bringing back the Squire and Kirby families of pre-Depression Detroit, up against a backdrop of organized crime and jazz living. For a preview, here's the back cover copy: 1929 ... Detroit can be a dangerous place ... Seventeen-year-old Ruth Squire's fiance, the love of her life, disappears on their wedding day, and it's up to her to find him. A blue feather is the only clue she has, which leads her down on the docks to a seedy nightclub. The risk to save Peter Kirby is enormous. Can she rescue him, or will she only put him into deeper danger? Disguised as a jazz singer, Ruth steps on the stage, knowing her life is on the line ... Knowing she may never escape ... An Unlikely Beginning is now available through DCP, and is coming soon to Kindle, NOOK, Amazon, and all other fine booksellers. Keep an eye on this space as well for the announcement of the Goodreads giveaway on this title! There's currently 406 entrants looking to win 6 copies of Scent of Double Deception, autographed by author Jeannie Faulkner Barber. Second off, a huge thanks goes out to all those Goodreads users who entered to win copies of An Unlikely Arrangement. Patty was overjoyed with the exposure that 1576 entrants gave her work! We'll be trying to top that high water mark for DCP in forthcoming giveaways, but for now here's to the winners, each of whom received an autographed copy of the book! Tammie Barker, Grand Prairie, TX Alicia Coakley, Portland, OR Pam Mandigo, Richmond, KY David A. Santos, Milwaukee, WI Brandon Erwin, Fort Stewart, GA Finally, get ready to see us in person! DCP is starting to get its public swerve on, with two appearances occuring in one three-day period. On October 21, come meet and greet DCP authors Don A. Martinez and Patty Wiseman at Books & Java in Marshall, Texas; while you're there you can pick up copies of The Advance Guard, Dinétah Dragon, and An Unlikely Arrangement, and the authors will sign them for you right there! Then on October 22 and 23, Jeannie Faulkner Barber joins Don and Patty in Austin for the annual Texas Book Festival. DCP will be sharing a booth with Evelyn Byrne's White Bird Publications, and all three authors (and four books) will be available. Come get your copy of any DCP work, and the author will be right there to sign it for you! What a deal! Big things happening with DCP this month! Come out and say hello! It's one thing to promote your books by having the author make the rounds of the interview circuit, meeting new folks and getting readers interested in their books. It's another thing entirely when an author's characters can do it for them!
That's exactly what's going on at Pat Bertram Introduces ..., the blog of author Pat Bertram. Pat currently has four books in print with Second Wind Publishing (Light Bringer, Daughter Am I, A Spark of Heavenly Fire, and More Deaths Than One), but she takes time out of her busy schedule to interview newcomer characters. In the last few weeks, she's done exactly that for two of DCP's star characters. On September 12th, Pat posted on her blog a wonderful interview with Ruth Squire, the lead character of Patty Wiseman's An Unlikely Arrangement. Ruth, as it happens, was smack dab in the middle of the opening of her book when Pat came around asking questions, and her answers reflect it. Then on October 1st, Pat posted her interview with Ariel Sharpe, a supporting character in The Advance Guard and the lead of Dinétah Dragon, both by Don A. Martinez. Ariel's was more of a sedate sit-down interview, but it was exciting all the same to have Pat talk to her. Of course, as always, the books starring Ruth and Ariel are available for purchase through multiple channels. Look for An Unlikely Arrangement in print and Kindle formats, and The Advance Guard and Dinétah Dragon in print, Kindle, and ePub. Things are really starting to explode here at DCP. Just in the most recent weeks, we've released our third book, Patty Wiseman's An Unlikely Arrangement, and are preparing to release our fourth, Jeannie Faulkner Barber and Ann Alan's Scent of Double Deception. The latter book is in proof review right now, and will hopefully be coming up for sale in the coming week. In addition, our fifth book, Lynn Hobbs's Sin, Secrets, and Salvation, is also in the pipeline for early 2012.
And even as our book offerings widen, so too does our stable of independent authors! Desert Coyote Productions is excited and pleased to introduce the next two authors to enter our stretch of the literary field, Bernadette Thompson Martin and Denny Youngblood. Look for author biographies of these new writers very soon, and keep an eye out for their books coming in 2012: Bernadette's novel Destiny Never Sleeps, and Denny's novel The Angel Box. Desert Coyote Productions is excited to announce that our current book offerings ... The Advance Guard, Dinétah Dragon, and An Unlikely Arrangement ... are now available for purchase at Books & Java, a small bookstore in Marshall, Texas. In anticipation of Don and Patty's upcoming book signing, Books & Java has placed the books in stock.
Come down and pick up a copy of your own, and support a local business. So here we are, just coming off of the Labor Day weekend, and DCP is cranking out new content, just in time for fall reading lists to start being made. We just sent the files out to get Jeannie Faulkner Barber and Ann Alan's Scent of Double Deception ready to go to press!
Jeannie and Ann have put together a heck of a book, taking place in the modern era and steeped in a world of secrets and hidden identities. The back cover copy gives you an idea just how familiar and yet mysterious this world is! Two women, two identities, one lie. An innocent charade catapults Clair Matthews and Kelley Malone into mystery and deception. Rugged cattleman Joe Paul Farrell falls victim to Kelley's elusive charms. Russell Gibson, loyal private investigator, enters a dangerous liaison. Bodyguard Spencer Walker desires the woman he cannot possess. An ocean away, ruthless Linford Thurlow sets in motion a decades-old plan. Six people's lives interlace through conflict and romance, but whom, if any, will succumb to a murderous plot of betrayal? I've read it as I've typeset it, and the book reminds me a lot of Elmore Leonard, especially in the situations and the tightness of the prose, along with Jeannie and Ann's ability to take a commonplace circumstance and amp up its danger factor by 100. On a related note ... DCP will be making our book fair debut this October, at the Texas Book Festival. The annual event, created by former First Lady Laura Bush in 1995, is held at the Texas capitol building. We'll be sharing a table with fellow ETWA independent press White Bird Publications, but you'll have an opportunity to meet all three of us DCP'ers ... not to mention the wonderful (and lovely) cover artist who did both Scent of Double Deception and An Unlikely Arrangement ... and a chance to pick up signed copies! Come see us October 22nd and 23rd! Or, if you're in the Marshall area, come see Don A. Martinez and Patty Wiseman at Books and Java on October 21st, where we'll also be doing a book signing. See us there! |
